ASÈCON (officially trading as ASÈ) is an agency of social entrepreneurship and solidarity economy that supports co-operatives in townships and rural areas to respond to the socio-economic challenges of unemployment, poverty and income inequality.
We model our support against the celebrated Mondragon groups of co-operatives.
Our services are designed and delivered to help co-operatives manage their businesses systems better, understand the economic environment in which they operate and secure the necessary resources to manage profitable enterprises.
The problem we are solving
A challenge facing developing economies like South Africa is producing a population with the prowess to engage proactively in a competitive macro-economy and addressing high levels of economic inactivity and poverty, affecting mostly the rural and township youth.
In addition to lack of business skills and access to resources; most people in these largely impoverished areas do not have access to the requisite support for self-employment.
These conditions render ASÈ necessary in a progressive network of development entities solving socio-economic problems by providing training, enterprise development services and economic development support for co-operatives.
